Bears, Senators tune up for showdown
NORWALK — The Norwalk and Brien McMahon boys soccer teams scored wins Tuesday as they prepare for Thursday’s showdown.
The Bears downed New Canaan 3-0 at Testa Field while the Senators earned a 4-0 victory over Stamford at Casagrande Field.
The Bears and Senators will face off Thursady at 7:30 p.m. at Testa Field.
Norwalk (11-2) broke a scoreless first half with three goals in the first six minutes of the second half. Andres Torres led the Bears with two goals and Jake Zuniga had one.
“We came out strong in the second half and stepped it up,” Norwalk head coach Chris Laughton said.
Santiago Muriel, Erick Romero and Danny Quintero each had assists. Norwalk outshot the Rams, 16-5, and had more corner kicks, 7-2.
Svet Kozak played the first 60 minutes in goal and made four saves. Jake Ross, who broke his wrist in the first preseason game, was back in action and played the final 10 minutes, registering one save.
