Norwalk boys soccer wins second straight

Staff reports

TRUMBULL — The Norwalk High boys soccer team broke a scoreless deadlock with three second half goals as the Bears went on to blank St. Joseph’s 3-0 Wednesday night under the lights in Trumbull.

It was Norwalk’s second 3-0 win in as many days after opening the season with a win over Westhill on Tuesday night.

Six different players have scored the NHS goals with Chris Jeffrey, Fabian Carvahal and Kevin Joslyn doing the honors on Wednesday.

Jeffrey scored the game’s first goal seven minutes into the second half with an assist from Chris Puente. Carvajal made it 2-0 when he converted a pass from Jake Zuniga 11 minutes later.

Joslyn closed out the scoring off an assist from Nacho Navarro with eight minutes remaining in the game.

The Bears outshot the Cadets 27-3 as goaltender freshman Svet Kozak recorded two saves for his second shutout.

“We dominated the first half, but their goalie made some nice saves,” NHS head coach Chris Laughton said. “We just couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net.

“In the second half we came out with a little more intensity and finished pretty strong.”

The Bears will next face Darien on Monday.
