Norwalk kicks Kolbe in Senior Night finale

NORWALK — Top-seeded Norwalk will host New Canaan as the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference playoffs begin Friday. The Bears (14-2) finished their regular season Wednesday with a 9-0 rout of Kolbe Cathedral. Andres Torres scored four goals and Alejandro Rivera added a pair. Spencer Jacoby, Mike Broncanti and Jake Zuniga also scored for Norwalk. Friday’s FCIAC quarterfinal begins at 7 p.m.

In other first-round playoff games on Friday, No. 2 seed Staples hosts Trumbull at 3 p.m. Trumbull handed Staples one of its two losses this season, 3-1, on Sept. 16. Trumbull finished the regular season 7-4-4.

Greenwich, which dropped a 2-1 decision to Fairfield Warde on Wednesday in its regular-season finale, finished as the No. 3 seed and will host No. 6 Wilton. Warde secured the No. 4 seed and will host No. 5 Ridgefield.

Friday’s winners advance to the semifinals Monday at Fairfield Ludlowe. The boys soccer championship is scheduled for Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Norwalk High School.
