Norwalk boys rally in second half to defeat Bridgeport Central

BRIDGEPORT — The Norwalk High boys soccer team rallied in the second half against Bridgeport Central to come away with a 2-1 FCIAC victory, its first win in two weeks, Friday at Kennedy Stadium. The Bears, who were 0-2-2 over their last four games, raised their record to 4-3-4. The Hilltoppers slipped to 7-3-1. “We definitely needed this win to get back on track and build confidence from – and finish the season the way the guys want to,” Norwalk coach Chris Laughton said. “We’re excited for the rest of the season.”

A goal by Reco McLaren gave Central a 1-0 lead at halftime. With 27 minutes left in the game, Willy Arbieto scored an unassisted goal to tie the score and three minutes later, Nic Zuniga tallied the game winner off an assist from Sean Whitteaker. Norwalk goaltender Alex Hurd made one save. The Bears have four games remaining, including Tuesday’s intra-city clash with McMahon at Testa Field 7:30 p.m.
