Norwalk boys soccer team cuts loose to beat Harding

BRIDGEPORT — The Norwalk High boys soccer team broke a 1-1 first-half tie with Harding by netting four second half goals on its way to a 5-1 victory over the Presidents at Harding High.

Ronald Machado led the Bears (2-3) with two goals and an assist.

Andres Torres chipped in with a goal and an assist, Manny Arteaga and Jorge Flores also scored and Matt Surace added an assist.

“In the first half we didn’t play nearly as well as we could have,” Norwalk first-year coach Chris Laughton said. “In the second half w e came out ready to play.”

The Bears had a 16-4 edge in shots and a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks. Norwalk goalkeeper Alex Hurd finished with four saves.
