Torres’ late goal give Bears a win
NEW CANAAN — Sophomore Andres Torres scored the game-winning goal with 11 seconds left in regulation on an assist from Matt Surace to lift the Norwalk High School boys soccer team to a thrilling 2-1 victory over New Canaan Wednesday night at Dunning Field in New Canaan.
Torres took a through ball from Surace to get 1-on-1 with New Canaan goalie Correy Calhoun (seven saves) and Torres beat him with a shot inside the left post. Norwalk improved to 4-2 overall while New Canaan fell to 1-2-2.
Nick Housden put New Canaan up 1-0 off an assist from Bart Kudrzycki in the 16th minute and Norwalk’s Willy Arbieto tied it in the 28th minute off a pass from Jake Zuniga.
Norwalk goalie Alex Hurd made three saves. The Bears finished with a 11-3 advantage in shots.
